Key findings from the Q2 2024 report include:
The latest AA/WARC survey data shows that UK ad spend rose 13.5% during the first half of 2024, to a total of £19.6bn.
At a category level, Nielsen data shows that the two largest major sectors maintained their increased display spend during Q2 2024.
As with the first quarter, the largest online formats –namely search (+12.7%) and social media (+25.5%) –led growth during the second, though legacy media again posted positive result.
Conversely, losses were recorded among four media during the second quarter.
We have uprated our full-year forecast for 2024 by 3.0 percentage points (pp) to a projected 10.6% rise following this strong first half performance, particularly within the online sector.
