The latest AA/WARC survey data shows that UK ad spend rose 9.3% during the first three months of 2024, to a total of £9.2bn.
At a category level, Nielsen data shows that just two major sectors lifted display spend during Q1 2024.
While the largest online formats – namely search (+12.0%) and social media (+23.8%) – led growth during the quarter, legacy media also posted positive results.
The latest AA/WARC forecasts now expect a rise of 9.2% in Q2 2024 (previously +6.4%) to reach £9.7bn.
We have uprated our full-year forecast for 2024 by 1.9 percentage points (pp) to a projected 7.7% rise following this strong first half performance.
